Difficulty with Reading: Struggles with reading comprehension, frequent re-reading, skipping lines while reading, or avoids reading.
Letter or Number Reversals: Frequently confusing or reversing letters and numbers such as b/d, p/q, or 6/9, which can affect reading accuracy, spelling, writing, and confidence.
Poor coordination or ball skills: Difficulty judging distances, catching or throwing a ball, or coordinating movements that rely on accurate visual information.
Difficulty organising written work: Challenges with spacing, alignment, margins, and arranging work neatly on a page, making written tasks harder to complete and follow.
Poor spelling: Difficulty remembering and correctly sequencing letters within words, leading to frequent spelling mistakes despite practice.

Visualization – The ability to form a mental image and manipulate it in one's mind. Important for reading comprehension and mental math.
Visual Memory – The ability to recall the visual characteristics of an object or symbol after it's no longer in view. Weakness here affects sight-word recognition and recalling letter/number shapes.
Visual Sequential Memory – The ability to recall objects, letters, or words in the order they appeared. A deficit can cause reversed reading of similar words, e.g. confusing "saw" and "was."
Visual Discrimination – The ability to notice differences between similar-looking objects, shapes, letters, or words, e.g. distinguishing "horse" from "house."
Form Constancy – The ability to recognize that a shape or letter is the same even when it's smaller, larger, rotated, or in a different font. A deficit can make it hard to recognize the same letter in different fonts or sizes, and can affect generalizing shapes across worksheets.
Visual Figure-Ground – The ability to pick out a specific shape, letter, or word from a busy or cluttered background. A deficit can show up as difficulty finding a word on a page, a specific line in a math problem, or an item in a cluttered desk or bag.
Visual Closure – The ability to identify a whole object or word when only part of it is visible. Important for speed reading and quick recognition in math.
Spatial Orientation – The ability to understand the direction an object is facing relative to oneself. A deficit can cause letter reversals (b/d/p/q) and number reversals (6/9).
Spatial Relations – The ability to judge the position of two or more objects relative to each other and to oneself. Important for problem-solving, higher-level math, and consistent spacing between words when writing.
Visual–Motor Integration – The ability to coordinate visual input with motor output. Crucial for handwriting accuracy, efficiency, and legibility.
